3.1 Networking Report
The text does not cover the leading edge of networking. Like many areas
of Computer Science, networking is in a continual state of flux. I
would like you to chose a topic that is not well covered in the textbook
and do additional research on the topic, writing up your results.
There are many possible
topics. Some possible topics:
- Wireless networking (802.11) (security) (Wi-MAX)
- SONET (Synchronous Optical Network)
- Cluster networking (Myricom's Myrinet & InfiniBand)
- 1 and 10 GigaBit/second Ethernet
- GigaBit Ethernet jumbo frames
- DSL extensions/limitations
- IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) (migration)
- ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode)
- Advances in Fiber Optic communications
- Internet Backbone Routing
- Cable installation and specification.
- Optical Fiber installation and specification.
The report needs to include:
- A cover sheet with the following:

- Bibliography citing your references. Please use
different types of references such as:
