Perl, as a language, may have more freely available, already
written code than any other language. A quick look a CPAN
and the modules available there will give you a feeling for the depth
and breadth of the code available. Perl is a language to get-thing-done.
It will probably never look pretty, but it is functional. If you can find
code that is already written and licensed appropriately
use it. Don't write anymore code than you need to. The Perl community
likes to share, take advantage of the wealth.
