Appalachian Trail - Summer 2003
I took most these pictures on my walk on the southern portion of the Appalachian Trail
during the summer of 2003, between Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia
and Dennis Cove, Tennessee. A distance of about 400 miles.
There are a few pictures from the trail around Penmar, Pennsylvania and Penmar, Maryland.
The pictures were taken with a Vivitar VivaCam 3615
digital camera. The camera met my requirements:
- Low cost, about $130 at Sam's Club.
- Reasonable resolution, 2.1 Megapixel.
- Standard AA batteries, uses 4.
- Light weight, 11 ounces with batteries.
- Compact Flash storage, maximum compatible capacity 128MBytes.
I would have preferred a camera that handled high contrast situations better.
In many of the pictures, sections of the image are saturated.
